Jakir was born in Noakhali, Bangladesh, and later moved to another district where he completed his high school. He was passionate about learning more about the textile industry and received a Bachelor of Science degree in Textile Engineering from the University of Chittagong, Bangladesh. After completing his undergraduate degree, he worked in the industry as a Merchandiser for three years. He started his master's program in Retail Management at Texas Tech University in August 2021.
He is also working with Dr. Hyo Jung (Julie) Chang as a part-time research assistant and helping her conduct interviews about the challenges and opportunities with fashion technology for denim consumers and manufacturers. In addition, he is learning 3D product development, CLO3D, python, and Matlab and is always open to trying new things.
His current research focuses on Environment-friendly protective clothing using Nanotechnology, Polymer & Fiber Science, Non-woven, Smart Textiles, Biopolymers & Bioproducts, Polymers, and Chemicals for Textile Composite and Medical applications.
Jakir loves to watch cricket and football in his free time and learn new skills.
